History Brief:
This area, which abuts the western shore of the Connecticut River was settled about 1650. It was first known as Upper Middletown or Middletown Upper Houses. It was established as a Parish in Middletown in May 1703 and incorporated as the town of Cromwell in 1851. Town vital records begin 1851.
