History Brief:
Settled before 1723 by people from Litchfield, it became the Society of South Farms in October 1767. It was separated from Litchfield and made the town of Morris in 1859. Major James Morris was an educational reformer who opened a widely known academy in the area in 1790. Town vital records begin 1859.
