Antiquarian and Noted Genealogist Mel Wolgang (1945 - 2013)

CSG notes with sadness the passing on July 5,2013 of great friend and long-time supporter, Meldon John Wolfgang III. Mel was the founder and owner of Jonathan Sheppard Books.
 

He was active in genealogy and family history since 1961, as a hobbyist, professional researcher, map publisher, and antiquarian bookseller. He was a popular speaker at local, regional, and national genealogy conferences for nearly three decades.
 
Mel was born on March 14, 1945 in Albany, NY. He was the only child of Meldon J. Wolfgang, Jr. and Madeline Frances Scott. He married Patricia E. Lockhart of West Virginia on August 23, 1969 in Kampala, Uganda while both were serving in the Peace Corp. Mel passed away on July 5, 2013 in Danvers, Mass. after a long illness. He is survived by his wife and his two sons, Meldon J. Wolfgang IV and Andrew J. Wolfgang.
